Last week, over 1,700 educators from around the globe joined the 2024
Back to School AI Webinar, where five leaders in education shared how they are using AI to transform teaching, according to
Forbes. Here are the key insights from these experts:
Sabba Quidwai, CEO of Designing Schools, highlighted how tools like ChatGPT and
Canva facilitate collaborative learning. She stressed that AI should complement human creativity, with educators guiding the decision-making process. Sabba explained, “It is really important when looking at AI to be intentional about the role of the human that is involved.”
Jason Gulya, an English professor at Berkeley College, shared his use of ChatGPT to develop interactive learning games. Tools like
Perplexity help turn AI-generated ideas into impactful classroom activities. According to Jason, “The real magic happens when we can take the idea and turn it into impact for something that we’re able to do right away.”
Aileen Wallace, a high school teacher from Scotland, uses the
Curipod platform to engage quieter students by allowing anonymous participation. “When students log into Curipod, their names do not appear on the screen,” she said, making the classroom environment more inclusive.
Edtech specialist Eric Curts demonstrated the AI assistant
Brisk Teaching, which automates lesson planning, content creation, and feedback. “Brisk Teaching’s ability to relevel texts and provide personalized feedback makes it an invaluable asset for supporting diverse learning needs,” Eric explained.
Matthew Wemyss, a school leader from Romania, showcased how AI can expedite lesson planning using tools like ChatGPT and Office 365’s Copilot. “Using AI tools allows me to adapt swiftly to classroom needs,” Matthew noted.
These insights from the 2024 webinar show the transformative potential of AI in education. As AI continues to evolve, educators are at the forefront of making classrooms more inclusive, engaging, and efficient.
